My current notebook is Macbook Pro 15”
I was a fan of the Thinkpad (T series) for more than 10 years,
Back in 2016, when Apple came with the Macbook Pro 15” retina version I decided to give it a try.
Since then I stick with Macbook (I already upgraded once to 2017 revision)
Here are my pros of Thinkpad and the Macbook Pro.
Lenovo Pros:
- It is a modular machine, you can easily swap drive, memory, etc.
- If something bad happens, you can open the box with a screwdriver easily.
- I’m a fan of linux, especially the Gentoo distribution that provides so much freedom and control, linux supports for Thinkpad hardware is great.
Macbook Pro pros:
- Retina - this is not a gimmick, if you use your notebook a lot then this is going to be a game changer.
- While Linux provides in depth customizations up to the bare metals, back then I loved spending hours into the night configuring my kernel right, but now when I’m more picky about my time the Mac world suites me better – it just works, this beast plays smoothly, it is a win win when combining UNIX stability and Apple’s UI.
